Sweet Sixteen Broadcast - Blue Division Entrants receive a one-word theme and have 16 hours to produce an entire show built around that theme. The Sweet 16 takes place at the STN convention, beginning and ending the day before the convention. |

Sweet Sixteen Film - Blue Division The group is provided a script which each team will produce. That script will have an open ending that teams can interpret and complete any way they prefer. Each group has 16 hours to produce a short film. |

Public Service Announcement A broad topic is given to teams. Those teams then shoot and edit a 30-second spot that delivers a message with a strong impact. |
|
Documentary - Short Team will be given a topic and then may research, plan and shoot in the field for 8 hours and edit for 4 hours. The final story will include visuals, sound bites, voice over (narration), and music. |

Music Video Teams receive a CD with a song, plus printed lyrics, and produce a music video entirely on site. |

“Tell the Story” Editing Produced by: Jason Belling and Aubrey Jacobowitz Teams of two receive a raw footage tape, are given time to watch it and plan their final edit. They then have only 90 minutes on the computer to actually edit the story. |

Promotional Announcement Produced by: Andrew Amoros, Tiffany Monaco, Tani Slauson, and Ryan Clinkunbroomer Teams will produce an “on-air” promo for their school broadcast that encourages viewers to watch the show. |

Spot Feature Produced by: Ian Cooley and Mina Choe Teams receive a topic and produce a 90-second feature package on site. |

Anchoring Anchor: Hannah Button Students in this contest must write their newcast and deliver it on-camera. Wire copy is provided for the newswriting portion of this event. |

Show Opening Produced by: Wes Bowen and Eric Ross Entries should be a recap of the entire convention with plenty of video of all of the activities including breakout sessions, contests, and special events. |

Commercial Produced by: Amylla Sullano, Jake Blaha, Janelle Randall, and Dylan Silver A sponsor/vendor product will be given to teams to brainstorm, shoot, and edit into a persuasive 30 second commercial. |

Live Reporter Reporter: Nicole Ostlund Students who enter this event are given a press release about a news event. They have 45 minutes to write their story, then present it on camera, as if they are reporting from the field. |

Stand-Ups Reporter and Photographer: Hannah Ortego and Janet Boachie Teams of two (reporter and photographer) receive a TV news story script with a hole in it. That’s where the stand-up goes. |

Music Soundtrack Produced by: Stephen Chavez and Jordan David Using any music production program including Garage Band and Pro Tools, teams will create a music track for a 2 minute video supplied. |
